About + Charity
So, how'd we get wrapped up in all of this?
Arlington Cornhole (ACH) began in early 2016. We started as a close-knit group of friends who wanted to get together regularly to toss some bags; ACH was the result. To make it interesting we did away with set groups of friends - stronger and weaker players were intermingled instead of having stacked teams - and had everyone chip in some cash to pay for team tee shirts. After we realized that we had everyone chip in too much cash, we decided to put the remaining cash in the kitty to whichever charity the team who won the league desired.
These days, ACH plays out of Whitlow's on Wilson and Mister Day's on Tuesday nights and hosts leagues which are 8 weeks long. Whitlow's and Mr Day's cut us deals on beer and cider, and give us some space to toss our bags in their bars; we love our Arlington bar brethren!
If you like getting together with outgoing folks, playing cornhole, and drinking socially - all in the name of supporting charities - then you should register for ACH's next season and come meet some people!
Why we keep on doing it:
We're proud to have raised over $6,000 for charity since we began in 2016, and are looking forward to having a bigger charitable impact moving forward as the league grows!
To date we've donated money to Wounded Warrior Project, Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital, St. Baldrick's Foundation, The Carpenter's Shelter, Old Friends Senior Dog Sanctuary, The Lyon Village Community House, The Arlington Housing Corporation, The Hurricane Maria Relief Fund, and Lucky Dog Animal Rescue.
We're loving playing a role, whether small or large, in helping charities near and far, while spending evenings socializing with like-minded cornhole enthusiasts!
